I almost lost my money.
Here’s what happened.
I tried to withdraw using my ATM.
Tried looking for an ATM machine with the same bank affiliation with my ATM.
But they are out of service.
So I decided to use a different ATM machine instead (a different bank affiliate).
Around 15 people are lining up. I am somewhere in the middle of the line.
When it’s my turn, I keyed in the value on how much I want to withdraw.
ATM machine says something like insufficient funds. Meaning I am withdrawing a value greater than what I have.
ATM re-inserted again.
Keyed in a value.
This is the second time I keyed in the value.
Half the amount this time.
The result is the same.
I’m pretty sure this value is already enough. But why “insufficient”?
Note: I did not do balance inquiry because doing that would entail extra fee. Remember that I am using a machine with different bank affiliate.
I grabbed my ATM and leave the area.
A few meters away from the ATM machine, a guy tried to catch up on me.
Called me because I left my money on the ATM machine.
Surprised, I went back.
I found my money with a receipt.
Money value is the same with the second value I keyed in.
I check the receipt to make sure it’s mine. The account number matches.
- That maybe a bug. But always check for any ejected money before leaving.
- Do balance inquiry.
- There are still good people on this planet.
- But don’t rely on that. Always check your money. 😀
