Anti-Distracted Driving Act. A controversial law which took effect on May 18, 2017.
But even before it’s effectivity, people have been raising doubts, questions, confusions about the law.
An officemate of mine said, if the main point is to remove distraction, putting your gadgets away from the “line of sight” won’t fulfill that goal. The recommended “gadgets below the dashboard” won’t hinder you from looking below the dashboard.
How about looking at you speedometer? Isn’t that a distraction too?
How about pressing your car stereo, or looking at those billboards?
How about a sexy lady crossing the street? (Not sure if I include this here, but they mentioned it.)
Or someone beside you?
Another officemate says this law was not properly reviewed/scrutinized.
They should be ashamed on passing something not properly reviewed.
Recalling a few stupid bill from the past, like the:
- Anti-Helmet Bill – riding a motorcycle with helmet is forbidden
- Anti-Hammer Bill – selling of hammer in the mall is forbidden
As of this writing the said Anti-Distracted Driving Act is suspended.
Side note: I may interchange terms like bill, ordinance, act, and law. My apology.
