Today I went out to eat lunch in Pizza Hut.
After eating, the attendant gave me the total amount: 107.90 pesos
She went away.
I put in 120.0 pesos.
Another attendant came to get the money and went away (maybe back to the cashier or something).
Another attendant came back with the change. It’s a different attendant this time.
She asked if I have a spare change.
The expected change is around 12.00 pesos. She showed me three 5.00 pesos coin and asked if I have 2.00 pesos.
I checked my pocket and bag, but can’t find any coins.
Then she asked if it’s okay if the change lacks 2.00 pesos.
I’m silent for a few seconds.
My first decision in mind is to say ‘no‘.
But on the other hand, I don’t want to make a commotion out of 2.00 pesos.
And then I asked her back if she really don’t have the exact change.
She said she don’t have. (In a nice way, though).
And she asked me again if it’s okay if she lacks 2.00 pesos.
I finally decided to just…go with it.
I went out the store troubled. Not because it’s minus 2.00 pesos from my pocket, but because I am surprised why a big business store/restaurant do something like that.
I am also troubled because of my decision.
I said to myself, I will let it pass now. But not next time. It’s just that I don’t want any commotion as of the moment.
I don’t want commotion just for 2.00 pesos. At least during that time.
I’ve been thinking……..if I will order something from them, I’m pretty sure they won’t give me the food if I lack 2.00 pesos.
But if it’s them that lacks 2.00 pesos in their change……
The trail of thoughts keeps looping in my head.
She asked in a nice way, though. But still I could’ve said ‘no‘.
Call me thrift or whatever, but big establishments should be able to handle situation like that.
I’ll let it pass for now.
Maybe I’ll think of an action plan in case this will happen again.
And also, hoping that other establishments won’t do this.
This is just my experience.
Maybe other branch are not like this. Hopefully.
(The drawing I made is just an illustration depicting the event. But the events are real and the attendant is chubby.)
